Siah-Bisheh Pumped Storage Power Plant

SIAH BISHEH H.P.P

General Information & History :

Initial studies were carried out by Tractionell Consultant, a Belgian Company , in 1970 and The first phase studies were completed in 1972 by the same company .

In 1984 phase II studies and preparation of tender documents began by Moshanir and Lahmayer International Joint venture, which were completed in 1986.

Technical and economical provisional studies were started again in 1999by EDF Company and completed in 2000

Phase II design completion was carried out by Moshanir-EDF in 2002.

The project is located in the vicinity of Siah-Bisheh village in Mazandaran province 125 km to the north of Tehran and 10 km to the north of kandovan tunnel on chalus river .

The objectives of the project are generating 1000 MW of hydroelectric energy and creating balance in the national electricity network during peak and non-peak hours.

Geographical  Location:

Project site is located in the vicinity of Siah Bisheh village in Mazandaran province.

Objectives:

The main objectives of the project can be summarized as follows:

1-     Hydropower generation using an installed capacity of approx,

     1000 MW (4*250 MW units)

2-     Creating balance in the national electricity network during peak hours and

      non-peak hours.

3-     Playing the role of a reliable consumer for the network.
