Masjed–E–Soleyman Dam and Power plant

The comprehensive reconnaissance studies were resumed in mid 1989 and phase 1 and 2 studies were completed in 1991 and the water diversion was made possible in 1995.

The opening procession of the project body took place in 1380and the first four units of the phase one are now in operation.

The project is located in Khuzistan province, 25.5km to Masjed-E-Soleyman town .

The most prominent feature of the project will be 46.7 million dollars of the bud

get cut –off due to annual hydroelectric generation.

The objective is to generate 2000MW of Hydroelectric energy.

Geographical Location:

Arvand river delta, 25.5 km north –east of  Masjed-E-Soleyman town

Objectives and benefits of the project:

  •  Generating annually 3700 million KWH hydroelectric energy

  •  Possibility of  taking advantage from hydroelectric potentials of D/S and U/S

  •  Increasing approximately %50 of hydroelectric energy of the country and %2

of  the total  generated energy in proportion to the present status.

  •  Approximately 185 million Dollars of annual income due to electricity

  •       generated by this project.
